Now, where can we find OLED displays?

Release date:

Oct 20,2025

Today, OLED screens are widely used in smartphones, digital cameras, VR headsets, tablets, laptops, and televisions.

Today, OLED screens have fully permeated the consumer electronics market thanks to their exceptional display performance and versatile design features, becoming a core display component in mainstream devices such as smartphones, digital cameras, VR headsets, tablets, laptops, and even smart TVs. Compared to traditional LCD screens, OLED’s self-emissive technology delivers purer black levels, superior contrast ratios, and wider viewing angles—qualities that ensure remarkably clear visuals even in low-light conditions. These advantages have swiftly propelled OLED to dominate the mobile device sector.
According to industry statistics, global AMOLED screen production surpassed 530 million units in 2018, with smartphones accounting for a dominant 82% of that total. This data clearly highlights the strong demand from mobile devices for flexible display technology. High-end models such as Samsung’s Galaxy series and Apple’s iPhone X series have embraced AMOLED screens, enabling innovative features like narrow bezels and in-screen fingerprint recognition. Notably, shipments of flexible AMOLED panels reached 140 million units that year, representing a 34% year-on-year increase—and signaling that foldable devices are now entering the stage of large-scale production.
In terms of industrial chain deployment, Samsung Display has long held over 65% of the global AMOLED market share, thanks to its early technological advantages and robust vertical integration capabilities. Its sixth-generation flexible OLED production line (featuring Y-OCTA technology) has achieved seamless integration of the touch and display layers, reducing the overall screen module thickness by 30% and lowering energy consumption by 15%. This groundbreaking innovation has directly fueled the widespread adoption of design trends like curved and waterfall screens, with more than 70% of today’s flagship models on the market now featuring rigid or flexible OLED panels supplied by Samsung.
With the advancement of 5G communications and the AIoT ecosystem, OLED technology is rapidly expanding into the mid-range market. Domestic panel manufacturers like BOE and TCL CSOT, leveraging their 8.5-generation production lines, have already reduced the cost of 6.5-inch flexible OLEDs to 1.8 times that of traditional LCD panels. This cost competitiveness has encouraged brands such as Honor and Xiaomi to widely adopt OLED screens in the 2,000–3,000 yuan price segment. Industry forecasts indicate that global AMOLED shipments will surpass 900 million units in 2023, with foldable panels expected to rise from their current 3% share to an impressive 15%, further redefining the design boundaries of smart devices.
